Troy McDonald

Director Zone Tennis Academy

  • Specialising in High Performance Training 
  • ATP Touring Coach for 5 years ,worked with Nathan Healey, Marc Kimmich, Arvind Palmer 
  • Manager of NSW Junior State Teams - Produced multiple Junior/Australian champions. Coached from the first ball of training, Brendan McKenzie, Troy Lockwood, Sean White, Jim Queenan 
  • Currently coach of Jake Delaney UTR 13.15 and US College Players Roger Rogowski, Rhys Jones
  • Former Head Coach Hunter Academy of Sport 1998 
  • Overseas Coaching Experience in Germany and England; including coaching Bundesliga and for the LTA - National Junior Champion 1989 
  • Current Director of Coaching of Zone Tennis Academy at Wheatleigh Street. Multiple state ranked juniors in our system include Alex Morris (recently invited to the NA), Leroy Sze, Sam Wensley, Phil Hible, Mia Jones.
  • Coached Redlands School Tennis to the National Schools Championships in Albury where Troy attended as Head Coach in 2020 
  • Current Director of Coaching for Loreto Kirribilli Tildesley Shield Team. Loreto Senior School programs operate at Wheatleigh Street.
  • Coached and played in the winning 2020 Sydney Badge 1:1 Competition for Wheatleigh Street. Team members included Max Purcell, Jake Delaney and Jordan Smith.

  • Played Forbundes Liga Tennis in Dusseldorf, Germany 
  • Assists in all programs at Wheatleigh Street 
  • Coaching experience overseas in Germany and the UK 
  • Played in the winning 2020 Sydney Badge 1:1 Competition for Wheatleigh Street.

We believe we have the best team in NSW with over 100 years of coaching experience. The team are all active players and have a strong passion to drive the future generation of tennis players.

Our team all teach under the Zone Tennis principles and work as a team to achieve the desired goals for our students.
